let the words speak for themselves
Name:polly j
Bio:Pretend this is a letter to you. Pretend I've called you up late when you're alone and pressed these words to you through the phone. Pretend you can read the scratchy curves of my letters, that they rise from the page and take to the air, that they find something in you. Pretend we begin and continue a conversation.
Pretend it is a snowy afternoon and we are drinking coffee with the windows steamed up from our breath and the music has a slow sexy beat that makes us believe we can always have this, exactly this way. Pretend we are playing a long slow game of chess where time narrows down to the intensely simple movements in this pattern we're creating.
Or we are together on a train. It passes through fog, the teeth of mountains, strands of rain. It is passing through the flat rows of the midwest, the rusty metals, the dirty rivers, the wide skies. It is going to the sharp bricks of the East, the old streets, the sleek trains. Or, it is going to the lush hills of the West, the wet brambles, the dirty shoes.
We are sitting by the window, we are talking through our pain and fear to some kind of understanding, we are talking of god and sex and love and death and revolution. We make promises to use what we have. we are dreamy and longing and tired. We are afraid of what we can do to each other, afraid to face the firing squads of inattentive hearts. We lean into each other as the sun sets.

or pretend that it's late and we are leaving the bright glow of a party's embers. We are singing to the silent houses, calling jokes to the night, so drunk we have to hold on to each other to walk, laughing so hard the stars spin.
Pretend we do a stumbly giddy dance under a streetlight, pretend our arms are around each other's shoulders as we sway home.

Pretend I have just met you. Pretend we are talking and talking, without breath for an hour and it's all fitting together, it's all making sense and we know, right now we know, we are gonna learn so much.

Say that this is enough.
